San Francisco Giants Abstract Bauhaus-Inspired Squares Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. With a focus on color and simplicity of design, these Bauhaus-era inspired posters will bring a beautiful flourish to your interior space, and show off your design-forward aesthetics.
Established in 1883, the San Francisco (originally New York) Giants are one of the most storied franchises in all of baseball. The team of John McGraw and Christy Matthewson, the Giants would win of 6 of their 14 World Series appearances prior to WWII. The Mel Ott era would come and go after then, leading into the Alvin Dark & Willie Mays era. The Say Hey Kid would be a prolific player for the Giants around the time of their move to San Francisco. Mays would ultimately end up leading the team in WAR for 12 straight seasons, compiling one of the greatest careers in the history of baseball… And for good measure he won a World Series in 1954. The Willy McCovy/Bobby Bonds years would follow Mays retirement, and the team lost its way for a time until the early-mid 90’s with the arrival of another All-Time Great: Barry Bonds. Signed as a Free Agent prior to the 1993 season, Bonds came out like a bat out of hell, putting together some of the best all-round seasons the game had ever seen. Defensively, on the basebaths, and with the bat, there was nothing Bonds couldn’t do in those early years. Bonds would tie Mays absurd team record with 12 straight seasons leading the team in WAR, and would ultimately grab the single season AND All-Time HR record in his time in the bay. While the numbers will forever be tainted, both historically and in San Francisco, the early Barry Bonds in the Bay was a true sight to see. The 2010’s began, as did the Buster Posey era in San Francisco. Tim Lincecum, Madison Bumgarner, and Pedro Sandoval would also have starring roles on a team from 2010-2014 would win three World Series. After some departures, the Giants have been unable to get back what it was that made those 2010’s teams so great, but with a great fanbase, front office and desire to win it’s only a matter of time before San Francisco sees itself back in the collection of MLB elites.
