Orlando Magic Abstract Bauhaus-Inspired Squares Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. With a focus on color and simplicity of design, these Bauhaus-era inspired posters will bring a beautiful flourish to your interior space, and show off your design-forward aesthetics.
Entering the league in the 1989-90 season, the Orlando Magic have a franchise identity rooted in generational talent, steady management, and consistency. The team would fumble around early on as is expected with expansion teams, but in the 1992-93 draft they would select Shaquille O’Neal out of LSU, and the entire trajectory of their team would change. Shaq would win Rookie of the Year, and have one of the fastest, most extreme ascensions to the top that we’ve ever seen a player have — both in terms of on-court play as well as fame. Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway would join the fray a year later, and all of a sudden the Magic had what looked to be the future of the Eastern Conference. As so many teams would experience, getting past Michael Jordan’s Bulls would prove impossible during that time period, but the Magic would actually dismantle before then, with Shaq being traded to the Lakers in the late 90’s before the team truly was able to reach their prime together. In the four seasons together, the duo would make the playoffs four times, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals twice, and the NBA Finals once, though never reaching that mountaintop of a championship. The team would hit the turn of the century with another talanted combination of stars when Tracy McGrady & Grant Hill would attempt to team up. Like with Hardaway several years earlier, injuries would eat the team alive, and they would never reach their full potential. They would draft ‘The Next Shaq’ when they took Dwight Howard in the 2004-05 NBA Draft. Howard would lead the team to six postseasons in as many years, but was never quite enough by himself to lift them over the finish line, getting as far as the NBA Finals in 2008-09 to the Los Angeles Lakers. Now it’s the Paolo Banchero/Jalen Suggs era, and they’ll look to convert on something the franchise has never yet been able to, winning a championship.
