New Orleans Saints Abstract Bauhaus-Inspired Squares Poster

from $35.00

Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. With a focus on color and simplicity of design, these Bauhaus-era inspired posters will bring a beautiful flourish to your interior space, and show off your design-forward aesthetics.

Established in 1967, the New Orleans Saints have a rich history of passionate fans, who (dat?) have been from the bottom to the top with this team over the years. The Saints history began in a rough place. As an expansion team, it’s expected that it would take a while to get your legs under you, but the Saints somehow took twenty years before making a playoff run (1987). In fact, the team didn’t even make it past the Wild Card round until the year 2000. An amazing feat, one that helps contextualize just how awful of a stretch of football the team played. Disparagingly nicknamed the ‘Ain’ts’ for years by their own fanbase, New Orleans finally found their savior(s) in the form of head coach Sean Payton, and quarterback Drew Brees — Both (maybe not coincidentally) joining the team in 2006. The team would immediately make it further than ever before in that year’s playoffs, reaching the NFC championship game, a tremendous feel-good story that season coming off of the horrific tragedy of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. In 2009 the Saints would finally reach the mountaintop, with Drew Brees breaking through and winning a Super Bowl title, to date the franchise’s only championship. In the era of Brady and Manning, Brees and that Saints team coming together was no small feat, and New Orleans will forever remember it fondly. Brees would continue his climb up the record books for QBs for another decade in New Orleans, but the team never coalesced around him in quite the same way that 2009 team did. This much is true, however: The culture of New Orleans is forever changed due to those 2000/2010 teams, and the Saints moving forward are a franchise to be reckoned with.
