Nebraska Cornhuskers Football "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Huskers in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.
The history of the Nebraska football program is storied and rich, one that’s seen the team reach the highest heights of success within the sport while also maintaining a level of excellence that most other schools in college football would envy. Beginning play in earnest in 1900, Nebraska would be one of the forefront schools of what would eventually become modern Division I college football. Behind head coach Walter Booth, those early teams would ramp up immediately: Running records of 10-0, 11-0, 9-3 & 9-2 in the very early 1900’s, the Huskers would set a tone for expectations of winning in Lincoln that would exist for over a hundred years. In 1962 the school would hire coach Bob Devaney, and he would establish a new standard of greatness over his 11 seasons in Nebraska. Devaney would average almost double digit wins in his time with the school, ultimately bringing them their first National Championships, one in 1970 and another in 1971, as the team would assemble an incredible 24-0-1 record over those two seasons. Tom Osborne would take over for Devaney in 1973, and would elevate the program even further. Osborne would coach the team for 25 seasons, amassing a 255-49-3 record, recording 9+ wins in every single season, and would win 12 bowl games in his time with the program. Most importantly, however, under Osborne’s stewardship Nebraska would win titles in 1994, 1995 & 1997, losing only two games over a four year span in what’s considered to this day one of the last truly great dynasties in the sport. The turn of the century would see Nebraska take a step backwards post-Osborne, but not as much as the National Media would have you believe. The Cornhuskers remain one of the truly consistent programs in all of the nation. With Matt Rhule at the helm Nebraska seems poised to take it’s rightful place atop the landscape of college football.
