The Minnesota Timberwolves entered the NBA in the 1989-90 season and have largely experienced doldrums as a franchise, minus a few exceptions. Though it is safe to say that this point in history in the present is one of the best times to ever be a fan of the team. The T-Wolves greatest run happened towards the end of the 1990’s, as the team would draft High School superstar Kevin Garnett with the 5th overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft. The jury was still out on High School talents at that point, but Garnett would ultimately prove to be one of the biggest hits in High School draftee — Hell all draftees — in the history of the Draft. Garnett would be one of the best players in the league for over a decade in Minnesota, and would lead the team to the playoffs in each of his first eight seasons. The team would bottom out around Garnett and be forced to trade him in 2007-08, and the team would soon after transition to the Kevin Love/Ricky Rubio era. Though the team never would reach the postseason, for fans of those Timberwolves teams it’s clear that the talent was never utilized properly, as Love especially was a tremendous player in his prime putting up great numbers. The Wolves would draft generational prospect Karl Anthony-Towns in the 2015 NBA Draft, and hit the jackpot. KAT is possibly the best shooting big-man in the league, maybe historically. They then would draft Anthony Edwards, trade for Rudy Gobert, and as the 2020’s continue on the Timberwolves look to have assembled the best team in their history. Minnesota fans everyone rejoice, you have your title contender moving forward.
