Shane Battier, Tony Allen, Marc Gasol & Zach Randolph would surprise the league in 2011-12, but for seven straight years this team would turn heads. They’d add Mike Conley, Jr. to the mix, and the ‘Grit ‘N Grind’ era was underway. The early 2020’s would begin, and with them would come Jaren Jackson, Jr., Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, all players that would understand and live the Grit N Grind ethos. As the calendar rolls into the second half of the decade, the Grizzlies seem to have something that most teams in professional sports will never have — an identity — and it will forever be what separates them competitively from their counterparts.
