Cleveland Guardians Abstract Bauhaus-Inspired Squares Poster

from $35.00

Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. With a focus on color and simplicity of design, these Bauhaus-era inspired posters will bring a beautiful flourish to your interior space, and show off your design-forward aesthetics.

The Cleveland franchise was founded in 1901 in a crowded American League. Led by era-superstar Nap Lajoie, and eventually Tris Speaker, Cleveland would have pretty minimal success, though would bubble up and win a World Series in 1920, and again in 1948. In 1950 the team would be the first American League outfit to break the color barrier, signing Larry Doby, who in the early 50’s would be their best player for several years. In 1954 the team would be swept in the World Series, and unbeknownst to anyone at the time, it would be the last time Cleveland would see postseason play for 40 years. A team so bad, for so long, Hollywood would make a movie about it (Major League), Cleveland would finally build a winner in the mid-1990’s. Between Kenny Lofton, Albert Belle, Jim Thome, Carlos Baerga, and Manny Ramirez, Cleveland seemed too big to fail. Though they would reach the postseason six times in seven years between 1995-2001, they would never win the elusive title, and one of the biggest championship droughts in all of American sports would begin to grow in stature. The mid 2010’s would see another upswing for the franchise, as home-grown talent like Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Jose Ramirez and Francisco Lindor began to graduate to the ML squad. The team would reach five postseasons in seven seasons from 2016-2022, another great run, but they would fall short of that title one more time, losing in 2016 to the Cubs who broke an even longer championship-less streak. Someday it will happen for the Guardians, and peering into the future it’s not hard to imagine it happening sooner rather than later.
