Charlotte Hornets Abstract Bauhaus-Inspired Squares Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. With a focus on color and simplicity of design, these Bauhaus-era inspired posters will bring a beautiful flourish to your interior space, and show off your design-forward aesthetics.
The Charlotte Hornets franchise began play as an expansion franchise in the 1988-89 season. In the time since the team has gone many transformations through eras, and since birth have been defined by their notable star players. The Mugsy Bogues era would define the team from the onset. Bogues was a solid but not spectacular player, most well known for his height rather than his abilities. He stood 5’3” in a league filled with giants, and that is always worth mentioning when defining his stature in the league’s history. The Hornets would draft both Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson early in their career, and many North Carolinians will tell you — This is maybe the biggest What If team from the entire 1990’s era. The two superstars would only play together for four years, and would only top out in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, but there was no doubt that if management had been able to keep them together that the Hornets could have challenged the Knicks down the road later in the decade. An unfortunate namechange would come in the mid-aughts at the behest of an egomaniacle owner (Bob-cats) and the team would largely fall into disrepairr for the better part of a decade. Sure, Gerald Wallace and DJ Augustine would have some fun years from time to time, but the Bobcats would seem perpetually to be in that middle-ground of NBA teams — not bad enough for great draft picks but not good enough to win first round playoff series (or get there in most cases). As the 2020’s roll on currently, the team seems to be on a positive track. Players like LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges create a level of competence and veteran leadership that makes the team difficult to handle every night, and the future looks to be strong if the Hornets can continue down this path.
