Brooklyn Nets "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Nets in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.
The Nets began play in the ABA in the 1967-68 season, and would soon become famous for having one of the truly transcendent ABA talents when they would go on to win the Finals in 1973-74 and 1975-76 on the back of one Julius ‘Dr J.’ Erving. The team would merge into the NBA the season after that second title, and the 1980’s would bring with it the Buck Williams/Darryl Dawkins era, one that would be loud and fun, but ultimately would end in four first round exits, and one second round. The late 80’s and early 90’s would be the darkest era for the (then New Jersey) Nets, as Derrick Coleman and Kenny Anderson would be drafted highly with big expectations, but they — and by extension the team — would disappoint greatly. As the calendar turned into the new century, however, the Nets were able to build something new. After the acquiring of superstar Jason Kidd, the drafting of Kenyon Martin out of Cincinnati, and development of a lot of great role players, the Nets would make it to the NBA Finals in both 2001-02 and 2002-03… However, they would end up fodder for the historic Shaq and Kobe Lakers teams of the era. Richard Jefferson, Deron Williams, Jarrett Allen would all come and go over the next 15 seasons before the Nets were able to piece together another truly great team. In 2020-21 they would sign both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving (and DeAndre Jordan) to form the next Big 3 Powerhouse team. That team would severely disappoint, dismantling after only three and a half seasons, dealing with injuries, egos and lack of chemistry. The Brooklyn Nets are now at a crossroads, and will look to develop new talent in the coming years as they work to dig out from that Durant/Irving debacle, but if history tells us anything, it tells us that the Nets will be back.
