Atlanta Braves Abstract Bauhaus-Inspired Squares Poster

from $35.00

Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. With a focus on color and simplicity of design, these Bauhaus-era inspired posters will bring a beautiful flourish to your interior space, and show off your design-forward aesthetics.

The long history of the Braves goes all the way back to their inception as the Boston Reds in 1876. Despite the team employing Twitter/X star Old Hoss Radbourn, there wasn’t a whole lot going on with the franchise prior to the turn of the century. Rabbit Marinville, Rogers Hornsby, Eddie Matthews & Warren Span highlighted the early years of the Braves, but the modern era for this team didn’t really develop until the late 1950’s, and the development of the (still to most) Home Run King Henry ‘Hank’ Aaron. Aaron would lead the team in WAR for 15 out of 16 years from 1956-1971, and unbelievable run never seen for another player with one franchise. Aaron would help lead the Braves to a World Series title in 1957 (their third as a franchise), but he’d never be able to get WS #2 in his time in Milwaukee/Atlanta. The 1970’s and 1980’s would come and go, and while the Braves would enlist great talent (Dwight Evans, Phil Neikro, Dale Murphy), they would never reach 90 wins. But in the early 1990’s the team would enjoy the fruits of their rebuild, as the team ascended to greatness with guys like Tom Glavine, Ron Gant, John Smoltz, Steve Avery and Chipper Jones. The Braves would sign Greg Maddux in what would prove to be one of the biggest value adds in the history of the league. Team owner Ted Turner would put the Braves on his TBS superstation, exposing the entire country to them, essentially making the Braves ‘America’s Team’ for a time. From 1991-2005 the Atlanta Braves were the epitome of consistent: They would go to 14/15 playoffs, win a World Series, and appear in four more. The narrative was that they couldn’t get over the hump, but that level of consistency should be applauded, it hasn’t been seen since and is likely not to be seen again in a sport with such parity. In 2018 the next great Braves team arrived, this one made up of Freddie Freeman, Austin Riley, Ronald Acuna & Dansby Swanson. In 2021 the Braves won yet another World Series title, while also making it to the NLCS in the two years before and after it. The Braves are in a new era of greatness, and attendance numbers and buzz would suggest that the fans are enthusiastic about what is yet to come.
