The marriage would work out exactly perfectly, as Leonard would stay healthy and play at his absolute apex ability, winning the title in a one-and-done season along with Lowry. The Raptors finally had their title on the back of Leonard, who would equally use that season as his call to the rest of the league: “I am unequivocally a superstar and deserve to be treated and paid like one”. Leonard would move on after that season. Present-day, Scotty Barnes looks to be a future force in the league, a guy capable of both being great and making those around him also great. As Toronto moves into the second half of the 2020’s, they’ll hope Barnes can make that magical step that all The Greats make.
