Ohio State Buckeyes Football "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of THE Ohio State in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.
THE Ohio State University has boasted one of the truly great programs in all of college football history, and indeed in the history of American sports as a whole. The team would claim their first National Championship in the 1942 season on the back of legendary coach Paul Brown, but not until joining the Big Ten in 1953 did the program truly take a monumental leap forward on the national stage with head coach Woody Hayes re-establishing what greatness meant in Columbus. Hayes would be at Ohio State for an incredible 28 seasons, winning nine or more games in every single season (!!!), and would capture five National Championships for the Buckeyes. Hayes’ tenure would ultimately lead to a level of pressure for many coaches to come after him, rightly or wrongly, as OSU would view themselves as one of the single most coveted college football programs in all of the country. In 2001 the school would hire Jim Tressel, and Tressel and company would go out and win a National Championship over a heavily favored Miami team in 2002. Tressel would be squeezed out over questionable reasons in 2010, but Urban Meyer would come in and lead the Bucks to another title in 2014. Ryan Day would step into the role of team leader in 2018, and has since elevated OSU to a place of dominance in college football, though has struggled to 1) win titles, and 2) beat Michigan with consistency. Some have looked for Day’s removal, but the job he’s done in Columbus cannot be understated — The Buckeyes are one of the 3-6 best teams in the nation every single season, and are always a bounce, a play, call away from challenging for the National Championship.
