Minnesota Vikings "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster

from $35.00

Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Vikings in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.

The Minnesota Vikings played their first NFL game in the 1961 season, and ever since they have been one of the most consistently good teams, yet have never been able to get over the hump and win a Super Bowl, famously losing four of the first eleven to take place. From 1968-1982 the Vikings were the model organization; Led mostly by legendary QB Fran Tarkenton, the Vikes played in four Super Bowls and reached the playoffs twelve out of fifteen years. After a brief layoff, the Vikings would again return to prominence in 1987 and go on a similarly impressive run from ‘87 all the way through 2000, making the playoffs in eight out of eleven years. They amazingly did this with a series of castoffs at the quarterback position — Wade Wilson, Rich Gannon, Jim McMahon, Warren Moon and Brad Johnson. In 1998 the team put together perhaps the greatest Offensive Team That Never Was, led by Randall Cunningham, Chris Carter and Randy Moss, the Vikings put together an incredible 15-1 record, but were unable to make good on their potential, losing the NFC Championship. The 2000’s have been a bit of a fallow period for the Vikings. The Dante Culpepper years transitioned to the Brett Favre, Christian Ponder, Teddy Bridgewater years… The Vikings remained competitive but their ceiling was capped. In 2018 they signed Kirk Cousins, a derided move by many, but Captain Kirk has largely worked out. With Justin Jefferson and now Jordan Addison and Taylor Hockenson in the fold, the team seems primed to turn another corner, and the Vikings offensive future — and the future of team — is bright.
