The Milwaukee Bucks have a storied history, but the greatest eras of the team are very likely bookending the franchise from their beginning to now. Beginning play in the 1968-69 season, the Bucks started their run as a franchise with a 27-55 season, obviously nothing to write home about. But following that dismal season the team was to draft the greatest prospect in the history of the game at that time, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabbar would absolutely torch the NBA with Milwaukee for six seasons, averaging 30.4 points and 15.3 rebounds per game and winning three MVP awards (1970-71, 71-72, & 73-74) as a member of the Bucks. In only his second season in Milwaukee, Abdul-Jabbar and the Bucks would take home the NBA Finals trophy. Kareem would depart in free agency after six seasons, and the Bucks would enter into a lengthy period of mediocre play. The Sidney Moncreif era would lead into the Ray Allen would lead into the Andrew Bogut era. These players were all good in their own right, but outside of an Eastern Conference Finals loss in 2000-01, the Bucks were a forgettable franchise for a long time. In 2013-14, however, the team would draft an intriguing prospect out of Greece named Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis would quickly grown into one of the greatest physical forces the league has ever seen, and has helped Milwaukee ascend into one of the greatest threats in the NBA year in and year out. MVP awards would come in 2019-20 and 2020-21, the second of which was capped by an NBA title, the city’s first since 1970-71. With Giannis on board, there seems to be no limit to the heights the Bucks can reach moving forward into the immediate future.
