LSU Tigers Football "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of LSU in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.
The LSU Tigers football team’s roots go all the way back to 1893, but their modern history began in earnest in 1933 upon joining the SEC. Led by Head Coach Bernie Moore, the Tigers would go to three straight Sugar Bowls from 1935-1937. They would lose all three, but it was clear that something was being built down on the Bayou. Consistent ranks in the Top 25 would follow for the next 25 years or so, but in 1958 the team would break all the way through — 11-0 record, #1 overall AP poll rank, and a National Championship. LSU was officially on the college football map. The team would consistently win throughout the rest of the 1900’s, dancing around the Top Ten of the AP Coaches Polls frequently, and going to Bowl Games more often than not. But heading into the 2000’s the program looked to be one of the goods-but-not-greats of the college football world. Enter Nick Saban: Saban would build the team up in his five seasons, taking them that extra level that they were missing, ultimately winning a National Championship in 2003 after a 13-1 season. Saban would leave for the NFL, but Les Miles would pick up right where he left off, and the Miles-led LSU teams would reach double-digit wins seven out of his first nine seasons, with another title coming in 2007. Miles would be pushed out and LSU would welcome back Louisiana native Ed Orgeron. Orgeron would steward perhaps the greatest college football team ever assembled in 2019, as Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and company would run the table, winning 15 straight games and breaking just about every single offensive record imaginable en route to yet another National Title. The Brian Kelly era would begin in 2022 with two straight double-digit winning seasons. A Saturday night in Death Valley is like nothing else in sports — And if history is any marker, Kelly and the Tigers are going to bubble up again… It’s simply a matter of time.
