Indianapolis Colts "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster

from $35.00

Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Colts in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.

Introduced into the NFL as an expansion team in 1953 in order to bring the league’s total up to ten teams, the Baltimore Colts only took four years to get their legs under them. The drafting of QB Johnny Unitas in 1956 would prove to be one of the most significant moves for the team and the league as a whole, as the legendary signal-caller would compete every season at the top of the league, and go on to win three championships in his (then unheard of) fifteen years at the helm. Most significant of those titles came in 1970, when Unitas would lead the Colts to Super Bowl V over the Dallas Cowboys. Unitas would move on after that season, and the Colts would enter into their most fallow period, reaching the playoffs only seven times in the next 28 seasons. A move to Indianapolis would in 1984 would shake things up a bit, but it wasn’t until 1998 and the drafting of Peyton Manning would yet again shift the direction of the history of the franchise. Over the next thirteen seasons, the Colts with Manning would reach the playoffs every season but two (one of which was his rookie campaign), reaching double digit wins every single one of those playoff years. Manning would set franchise records all over the place (as would Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Edgerrin James), as well as pace himself as one of the small handful of greatest quarterbacks to ever live, eventually hoisting a Lombardi trophy in 2006 as the winner of Super Bowl XLI. Andrew Luck would follow in Manning’s footsteps, and played lights out for the team for seven years, though chose to retire early in light of injury concerns. To this day the Colts remain one of the most storied franchises in the history of the league with a rich tradition of quarterback play.
