Houston Texans "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Texans in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.
As the league’s newest franchise, the Houston Texans are still in the toddler phase of their story, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t had some great moments. Playing their first NFL season in 2002 as an expansion team, the Texans did take some time getting off the ground, waiting a full decade for their first season with double digit wins. While the Dom Capers era was mostly forgettable, the team made a smart move with their second head coach, tagging DC Gary Kubiak to lead them. Kubiack would assemble a killer defense in his time atop the Houston coaching team, and would eventually bring the Texans to the playoffs for the first two times in their history — 2011 and 2012. The team would fall in both instances in the Divisional Round, but something was building. The Kubiak era would give way to the Bill O’Brien era, and the Texans would continue to stockpile talent — DeAndre Hopkins, Deshaun Watson, Lamar Miller, TJ Watt… As the team headed into the second half of the 2010s, they continued to grow into a threat, and while there wasn’t more than a few flameouts in the playoffs to show for it, it was clear that Houston was building a beast. In 2023, the Texans took CJ Stroud out of Ohio State with the #2 overall pick in the draft, and it was immediately clear that he was HIM. As the Texans roll through the 2020’s, it seems clear to anyone paying attention: Their best is just on the horizon.
