Georgia Bulldogs Football "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster

from $35.00

Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Bulldogs in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.

Georgia football has its roots all the way back in the 1892 season, but the modern era for the team wouldn’t begin until they would join the SEC as one of its founding members in 1933. The team would hire Wallace Butts as head coach in the mid-1930’s, and with it would come unprecedented success. An Orange Bowl appearance in 1941 would lead way into an 11-1 season culminating in the #1 Overall AP ranking and a Rose Bowl win in 1942. The prestige of the program was rising. The rest of the 1940’s would see Bowl Games more often than not (in a climate in which there weren’t many of them), and the team became synonymous with winning. In 1964 the team would hire Vince Dooley, who would in fact take the the Bulldogs to another level, culminating in a stretch from 1980-1983 in which they would win 12, 10, 11, and 10 games in a four year stretch, as well as reach four Bowl Games and win a National Championship (1980). The 1990’s would see consistent winning, but as the 2000’s came, Georgia would once again step up their game in recruiting and winning, establishing a new level of consistency that only a small handful of other programs have been able to see. Mark Richt would lead the team to double digit wins in ten of his fifteen seasons, but was pushed out having never been able to nab a championship. Georgia hired Kirby Smart in 2016, and Smart has proven to be exactly what they were looking for when they moved on from Richt — A coach able to take the team from the Top Ten in the country year-in-and-year-out to the Top 3. Georgia since 2016 has been the best program in the country, full stop. UGA has won nine games for every game they’ve lost since Smart has come on board, as well as two National Titles. As long as Smart remains in town, and the Bulldogs recruit at this level, they seem primed to be one of the most dynastic teams the sport has ever seen.
