Colorado Rockies Abstract Bauhaus-Inspired Squares Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. With a focus on color and simplicity of design, these Bauhaus-era inspired posters will bring a beautiful flourish to your interior space, and show off your design-forward aesthetics.
Beginning play in 1993, the Colorado Rockies are a franchise built on great players, competent play, and one really notable quirk that may forever hold the team back. The early days of the Rockies was one of absolute fireworks — Andres Galarraga, Vinny Castilla & Dante Bichette all became household names in the first few seasons because of massive HRs, massive power numbers, and an offensive outburst from the team that was, frankly, not expected. It turned out that baseball in thin air was a game changer for the offense — But equally a major hinderance for pitching. Larry Walker would join the frey in 1995, and help the team reach it’s first postseason berth that season. They would lose in the NLDS, but the team seemed on the upswing. Unfortunately they would take a step back the following season and not reach the playoffs again until 2007. At this point the franchise was deep into the Todd Helton era. Helton would eventually become the very first Rockies Hall of Fame player, one of the greatest true hitters of all time, but his time in Colorado was marred by terrible pitching and questionable roster construction. The Rockies would reach the World Series in 2007 on the heels of ‘Rocktober’, a stretch of games where the Rockies would win 21 of their final 22 games leading into the World Series… But they were dismantled by a very talented Red Sox team. The Troy Tulowitzki era would bleed into the Nolan Arenado era would bleed into the Trevor Story era… But the Rockies have not had much regular season success, only making the postseason twice (2017 & 2018) since. Despite the team’s use of a humidor to combat the difficult conditions for pitchers, the Rockies can’t seem to either develop or acquire/sign great pitching. In what may forever be a struggle until the team moves to a stadium outside the city at a lower altitude, the Rockies are in a holding pattern… Either waiting for a talented roster capable of overcoming their situation in life, or in need of a change of circumstances.
