Colorado Buffaloes Football "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Buffaloes in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.
Officially beginning play in 1902, the Colorado Buffaloes are a team that has endured many down periods in their history alongside their great runs, though the most exciting era of the program is currently playing out in front of our eyes. The team would largely sputter through the first 50 years of their existence, polling in the Top 25 only once, but in the mid 1950’s coach Dallas Ward would begin to lay the foundation for Big Boy Football in Boulder, making the Orange Bowl in 1956 and establishing a new culture of winning. Head Coaches Eddie Crowder and Bill Mallory would follow suit, and the Colorado program in the 60’s and 70’s would be one of competency, as berths in Bowl games would become realistic goals heading into each and every season. Bill McCartney would be hired in 1982, and the trajectory of the Buffs would forever be changed. After a rebuild of the program, the 1990’s would see the best era of Colorado football yet — A National Championship in 1990 would come on the heels of back-to-back 11 win seasons; The team would have their first ever Heisman award winner in 1994 with Rashaan Salaam. The turn of the century would see less stellar play from Boulder, and a fallow period in the aughts and 2010’s would come and go, with some wondering if Colorado would ever again reign with the Big Boys of the sport… But then the team took a chance in 2022 and hired Deion Sanders from Jackson State in a move that would shake the core of the institution of college football. Sanders would go 4-8 in his first year, but with a knack for recruiting, cult of personality and sheer of force, Sanders seems primed to take the Buffaloes all the way to the top, it’s only a matter of time.
