BYU Cougars Football "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster

from $35.00

Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Cougars in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.

Beginning play in 1922, the Bringham-Young Cougars have perhaps one of the most unique and storied histories in all of college football, and a dedicated fan base that seems to transcend simply play on the field. The team would go many, many years before ever tasting true success on the football field, languishing through many different levels of play in different conferences… But after finally settling into the WAC, the program began getting off the ground in the mid 1970’s with the guidance of legendary Head Coach LaVell Edwards. Edwards would establish an entirely new level of greatness for the Cougars, as the team would find themselves in Bowl games every single year just about. In 1984 the team did the absolutely unthinkable prior to Edwards arrival — They won a National Championship on the heels of 13-0 season, the single greatest in BYU history. The team would continue into the new century with new coach Bronco Mendenhall, another transcendent coach who would lead the Cougs to new heights with five double digit winning seasons in six years in the mid-aughts. Mendenhall would not reach the heights that Edwards would, however, falling just short of the BCS playoffs. The writing would be on the wall for the team in a new era of the College Football Playoff system, and BYU in 2023 would join the Big XII in an effort to have a seat at the big table. As time rolls on into the future, the Cougars look to be a potential player in future playoffs as part of the dwindling conferences that truly have a chance at a National Championship.
