Atlanta Falcons "Modern Iconography" Statistical Poster
Sports art doesn’t need to be in-your-face. It can be elegant, stylish, even thought-provoking. These large-scale modern-style prints can certainly fit in a garage or man cave, but they’re most at home in a dining or living room adorned by thoughtful interior design. Created using visual iconography and showcasing historical and statistical data (updated for the 2024 season), these posters tell an elaborate story of the legacy of the Falcons in a design-forward manner and will undoubtedly enhance any space you choose to display it in.
The Atlanta Falcons have a storied history that spans generations, and have forged a noticeable culture across eras that is visible to this very day. Joining the NFL in 1966, the team had humble beginnings. It wasn’t until they brought in head coach Norm Van Brocklin in 1968 that things begin trending in the right direction. Van Brocklin would bring respectability to the team, and that allowed the Falcons to reach the playoffs for the first time a few seasons after he left, in 1978. Twenty seasons would pass from that first playoff appearance, and while Atlanta would reach the playoffs here and there, they never quite achieved hihg-end success until the 1998 season, when head coach Dan Reeves and quarterback Chris Chandler put together a tremendous 14-2 season. They would fall short of the ultimate prize, losing to the Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII, but a new level of hope began to permeate the heads of Falcons fans. In 2001 the Falcons would famously draft Michael Vick, who would be one of the most game-changing talents the league had ever seen. Vick would create new levels of highlights and excitement, and despite never winning a title for the franchise, he’ll forever be inextricably linked to Atlanta. The Matt Ryan era would follow Vick’s departure from the team under controversial circumstances, and he would help the team reach even new heights, reaching the playoffs six times in his tenure. The Falcons would once again reach the Super Bowl in 2016 only to be turned away; This time from Tom Brady and the Patriots. It’s unclear what the 2020’s will reveal for the Atlanta franchise, as the team has meandered a bit, but the fans will wait with baited breath for the next chapter in the franchise’s rich history.
